Lomas Architecture is an established architectural practice in Sheffield with a portfolio of succesfully completed residential, commercial and arts projects.

The principal, Richard Lomas has over twenty years in architectural practice with early experience gained with architectural practices in London and Leeds before establishing Lomas Architecture in 1999.

Residential work includes house extensions, barn conversions, work to listed buildings and buildings in conservation areas. We have completed residential projects in city centres, the suburbs and green belt for small extensions and internal alterations to large barn conversions and multiple aparatments. Richard is a Certified Passivhaus Designer.

Passivhaus is the leading international, low energy, design standard. It offers a robust, proven and cost effective method of producing buildings which provide high levels of occupant comfort and require very little energy for heating.
Passivhaus is suitable for both new-build and retrofit projects and although it has been used mostly for housing, it can be applied to schools, offices and other building types.

We have a special interest in designing low energy buildings and introducing measures which will reduce the energy consumption and carbon output of existing buildings. We are members of the AECB – the Sustainable Building Association and have a network of trusted consultants and contractors who can offer energy assessments and the design and installation of renewable technologies.
